In addition to taking the time to respond to questions about why Jehovah’s Witnesses believe the way they do, and why they behave the way they behave sometimes, I will also be taking periodic “Frequently Asked Questions” from their website (www.jw.org) and deconstructing them.
The Jehovah’s Witnesses have long sought to establish themselves as a mainstream religion but have had difficulty doing so due to their questionable beliefs and sometimes distasteful actions. They have launched a new marketing campaign, trying to direct those outside of their faith to their website, where they explain some of their beliefs and have a plethora of frequently asked questions with subsequent responses.
The problem with their website…..especially the frequently asked questions portion of it…..is that it consistently uses scholarly and intellectual dishonesty. They routinely employ half truths. They withhold information. They use logical fallacies to divert the reader’s attention. And sometimes they outright lie.
Each topic will consist of the question at hand, their answer (as taken directly from their website) and my paragraph by paragraph dissection of it, as I bring out each and every point of dishonesty within their explanation.
